When it comes to ceramic materials, it is inevitable to separate ceramics from porcelain. When we often refer to ceramics, it refers to the combination of two types: pottery and porcelain. In the field of creation, both pottery and porcelain are indispensable and important components of ceramic art, but there are qualitative differences between pottery and porcelain.
Tao is mainly made from clay with high viscosity and strong plasticity, which is opaque, has fine pores, and weak water absorption, making a dull sound when struck. Porcelain is made of clay, feldspar, and quartz. It is semi transparent, non absorbent, corrosion-resistant, and has a hard and tight base material that makes a crisp knocking sound.
