The so-called "ceramic" is a type of ceramic product made from clay or other inorganic non-metallic materials, processed by molding, sintering and other processes, used for decoration and protection of building walls and floors in the form of plates or blocks. After drying and heating to a certain degree, it hardens and no longer dissolves in water.
The main components of ceramic cups are kaolin, clay, porcelain stone, porcelain clay, colorants, blue and white materials, lime glaze, lime alkali glaze, etc. Jingdezhen ceramic cups are mainly made of kaolin ceramic raw materials, which are a type of clay mainly composed of kaolin. Named after being first discovered in Gaoling Village, northeast of Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province. Its chemical experimental formula is Al203 · 2SiO2 · 2H20, with weight percentages of 39.50%, 46.54%, and 13.96%, respectively. Pure kaolin is a dense or loose block with a white to light gray appearance. When contaminated by other impurities, it can appear black brown, pink, beige, etc. It has a smooth feeling and is easy to crush into powder by hand. After calcination, it has a pure white color and high fire resistance, making it an excellent raw material for porcelain making.
